I began working with my children about 5 years ago. Our shoots often start with me explaining the history, or emotional landscape, behind my idea. The idea tends to be a memory from my past, or a story that I overheard when I was a child. Sometimes, it is simply play. I love history, and I find it very rewarding to walk my children into a memory that is part of their history as well. I get to revisit the past, so to speak, look around, and create a new version that is both past and present. All images are captured using either film, dry plate, or wet plate collodion.
